Rangelands Savings and Credit Cooperative Organisation (Rangelands SACCO) was founded in 2016 as an independent, community-owned, member-driven institution. The SACCO collaborates with NRT member community conservancies to administer savings and microcredit loans. It has become a catalyst for grassroots development in remote areas where financial institutions are not easily accessible.
Rangelands SACCO remains committed to promoting financial inclusion and driving the growth of local economies by empowering community members in marginalised areas.
All members receive tailored business and financial literacy training, and Village Enterprise Volunteers (VEVs) have been identified and trained to recruit members, generate new business ideas, and follow up on loan repayments.
6,331 members with savings/capital share of Ksh 52.2 million
KES 235 million disbursed in loans to over 5,800 members to finance business startups and expansion

I have gained valuable knowledge from business training provided by MashinaniWORKS on how to make my business thrive. I have been putting aside funds for unforeseen circumstances and expansion, being more courteous to my customers, and organizing my collections more effectively.
~ Batuli Bw’kombo, Rangelands SACCO beneficiary from Pate Conservancy.
Ujuzi Manyattani is a mobile vocational training delivery model launched in 2019, in which TVET institutions place trainers in villages to teach marketable skills.
Ujuzi Manyattani provides access to learning for people from disadvantaged socio-economic backgrounds and those who have not been able to access formal education. It enables youth and women from indigenous communities to acquire practical vocational skills where other training facilities are absent without disrupting their way of life. Adult literacy and entrepreneurship skills are also incorporated into the training.
Trainers and tools move across villages, conservancies, and counties to provide equal opportunities to all ethnic groups in community conservancies. Our current technical partners are Kiirua Technical Training Institute and Laikipia North Technical and Vocational College.
The program offers several vocational courses, including Tailoring and Dressmaking, Vessel Repair and Maintenance, Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Masonry, Welding, Catering, Plumbing, Electrical and Solar Installation, Motorcycle Repair and Maintenance, and Mobile Phone Repair.
I refused to be defined by my disability. When I joined Ujuzi Manyattani, my life was never the same; it restored my hope and the will to live. Many in my position are begging in the streets, but for me, I am earning income through phone repair services.
~ Peter Lepedo, Ujuzi Manyattani mobile phone repair graduate from Songa Conservancy, Marsabit County.
